Subaru of Bend employees lined up on either side of a blue carpet in the sales department this month, awaiting Robert, an 11 year old boy with a heart condition with the Make a Wish Oregon organization. Some employees wore big gold star costumes and others waved pom poms and streamers around. As soon as they all saw Robert, they hooted and hollered for him and threw confetti. It was a sight to see. Robert lit up with excitement and in awe. His mom couldn’t stop smiling. Robert was diagnosed with a heart condition. He finds joy and peace near water—and his face lights up with excitement at the sight of even the smallest waterfall. Robert’s heartfelt wish is to experience the awe-inspiring power of Niagara Falls: to feel the mist, hear the thunderous roar, and witness the raw force of nature in person. Subaru of Bend donated $12,000 to help make the Niagara Falls wish come true for Robert. But the most impactful part was watching the employees get excited and cheer for Robert. Afterwards, pizza and lemonade was served for all who joined in the event. Even customers got to witness something special happening and join in with the festivities.

May is Stroke Awareness Month and the local organization, Stroke Awareness Oregon, put on an incredible fundraiser called, “Leading with a Purpose.” This was the organization’s first time doing the event that featured local leaders. It was very successful and will now be an annual event. Stoke Awareness Oregon selected three local leaders; Matt Thomas, owner of Subaru of Bend, Hayden Watson, owner of Hayden Homes and Kevin Spencer, owner of Empire Construction to speak about what it means to be a leader at all levels and community responsibility from a philanthropic lens. What is extra special about these men is that they have been friends for 30 years and have collaborated on many philanthropic ventures. The organization raised $100,000 at the event and attendees were inspired to get more involved in the community. In addition, Subaru of Bend selected Stroke Awareness Oregon as their nonprofit for the Share the Love program in 2026. Although this was the first time that Subaru partnered with Stroke Awareness, I can guarantee this won’t be the last.

Trees are everywhere, covering thirty percent of the land on Earth. Not only are they gorgeous, but they give us the oxygen we need to breathe, a vital part of our ecosystem. Of course they have many other uses and benefits, such as absorbing carbon dioxide, providing habitats for many kinds of animals and insects, enhancing the beauty of landscapes no matter the season, and bringing joy to people who enjoy a life of gardening. Here at Subaru of Bend, we pride ourselves in encouraging people of all ages to appreciate the trees that make up a large part of our home, and this year we did that by giving away one hundred trees to the community on Arbor Day! At risk of stating the obvious, we are surrounded by trees here in Bend, Oregon. No matter which direction you look, there is a carpet of trees extending out over the countryside, resulting in the lush, green landscape we all love. Furthermore, there is not one backyard in Bend where you won’t find at least one or two trees being raised by die hard tree lovers. To encourage this love for trees and celebrate Earth Day, Subaru of Bend gave away four types of trees: Sugar Maples, American Hornbeams, Eastern Redbuds and Red Maples. People came all throughout the day to support this awesome cause and show just how much they love the earth and Subaru. It is safe to say, there was not one tree left by the close of the day and one hundred lucky people got an awesome new addition to their backyard. To see just how much the people of the community and our Subaru customers love the earth is truly heartwarming. We know that Subaru will continue to inspire this kind of love and dedication to the environment in the future, with the younger generations following in our footsteps and taking on the responsibility of looking after our planet. They may be small choices, but they most definitely have large impacts on our world.

Gymnastics is not a common word used around car dealerships, but here at Subaru of Bend we are all too familiar with the sport. The owner of Subaru of Bend, Matt Thomas, is always finding creative ways to give back to the community and the Redmond Gymnastics Academy have been the latest recipients of his philanthropy. The Redmond Gymnastics Academy, or RGA for short, is located out of Redmond, Oregon and has been a competitive gymnastics team for at least fifteen years. This year there are thirty two girls on the team, ranging in ages from seven to fifteen. The team competes at many events over the course of the year, giving the girls a chance to showcase their amazing talents. The RGA competes in five meets in Oregon and Washington, and also two “fly away” meets that are located across the country. This year, the team travelled to Phoenix, Arizona and Reno, Nevada. The RGA has done incredibly well so far this year, with their levels three, four and five teams placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the team divisions. The level five team recently placed 2nd at a very competitive meet against some strong powerhouse academies from Oregon and Washington. Additionally, the level eight and nine girls have had amazing accomplishments, including highest scoring all around champions. When they reached out to Matt for a possible sponsorship, Matt was all too willing and jumped at the chance to support this local team. This is the first year Matt has supported the RGA and we take pride in being a small part of their journey. The commitment, resilience and dedication these athletes have to their sport is admirable and nothing short of inspirational. The team at Subaru of Bend is excited to see what the young people at RGA are going to accomplish next.

Subaru of Bend loves to find unique ways to support the community and make a difference in people’s lives. Earthwin is the most recent recipient of Subaru of Bend’s philanthropy, partnering with PIE, our point of sale software company, to donate a percentage of their profit to organizations that raise awareness for important causes that we are also passionate about. PIE, which stands for Purpose In Expenses, is a local Bend, Oregon company that donates to nonprofit organizations. PIE donates a percentage of their profits from point of sale transactions on credit cards to non-profit organizations. Subaru of Bend chose Earthwin, who received a donation of twelve thousand dollars. We are privileged to be able to help get funds to them more consistently and back a company like PIE who is truly making a difference in the community and supporting those who work hard to make the world a better place. Earthwin is also located here in Bend, Oregon, the perfect place to be an advocate for the planet we live on and raise awareness for global well-being. Their mission is to inspire others to help shape the future, make a positive impact on the environment and be excited about the world we live in. Together with PIE, we were able to help Earthwin empower over seven hundred and fifty kids, fund youth leadership development, restore twenty six acres of land and develop at least fifteen new projects. Earthwin is just one company of thousands that are out there trying to make a small difference in the world. Subaru of Bend is proud to work with PIE to support organizations like Earthwin, who are inspiring an entire generation to “lead, innovate and make a difference in our community.”

Here at Subaru of Bend, we all know that customers are at the heart of who we are. The connections we develop, whether with travelers stopping by or with our long-time regulars, is what draws people back and keeps them holding on to their Subaru bonds. The relationship between employee and customer is a sacred one that extends beyond the casual hello or passing smile, but further gives us the chance to make a difference in someone’s life. Patrick McElearney recently experienced this when he came to Subaru of Bend, so much so that he wanted “to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I received from Tara Ewart.” At Subaru of Bend, we pride ourselves on our extraordinary customer service, a fact Tara certainly demonstrated by going above and beyond. Tara has been working in the service department at Subaru of Bend for five years and has been a constant source of knowledge for both customers and colleagues. Her sound understanding of Subaru vehicles and friendly demeanor has earned her a name of loyalty to those who return time and time again, trusting her to provide honest advice and top-notch service. Patrick McElearney was such a customer, who came in seeking a loaner vehicle while his was being worked on. “Tara had all the necessary paperwork fully prepared in advance, making the process incredibly efficient. Her attention to detail and proactive approach saved me time and made the entire experience stress-free.” This is just one example of a time when Tara has gone above and beyond for our customers, making their lives easier and delivering memorable experiences that enhance our customers lives. Patrick has been a customer at Subaru of Bend for many years now. Whether he is purchasing a new vehicle or getting an old one serviced, we are always happy to see him. His experience at Subaru of Bend was different this time though, as Tara did more than just help him with a loaner vehicle. “Beyond that, she also took the initiative to help me with information regarding a 2025 Outback Wilderness that I am interested in purchasing. She provided details on its expected arrival and even connected me with a salesperson who could assist me further. Her willingness to go the extra mile truly stood out and made a significant difference in my experience.” While this may be out of Tara’s range of expertise, she took the time to find the appropriate information and point Patrick in the right direction, leaving a lasting impression worthy of recognition. This level of customer service is what we at Subaru of Bend strive for every time, with every person. Tara embodies the very values that the Subaru brand stands on, and Patrick did not miss a beat in recognizing that. “It is rare to encounter such a level of professionalism and customer care, and I wanted to take the time to acknowledge Tara’s hard work and dedication. She is a valuable asset to your team, and I am grateful for the outstanding service she provided.” Reviews from customers like Patrick are an ode to the great people that we have working for Subaru all around the country. There are those that make differences everyday, no matter how small, that mean the world to people like Patrick. Tara may only have been doing her job, but her unwavering dedication and faithfulness to helping people is always inspiring those who work alongside her. Tara is a valuable asset to this dealership and we know she will continue to foster a positive, inspirational environment where this level of customer service is acknowledged. “I look forward to continuing my relationship with Subaru of Bend, knowing that employees like Tara are committed to excellence.”

Imagine having to go without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Bend, this can be a harsh reality. Helping others is the key to a strong community which is why Subaru of Bend believes in helping to support individuals and families in urgent need. This season, for our Subaru Loves to Help® initiative, we are partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need so far. On January 13th, 2025, Subaru of Bend partnered with Family Access Network, FAN, and donated 504 coats to children in urgent need. Subaru of Bend delivered the coats to FAN so they could be distributed to kids in need that afternoon. These essential items help keep children protected, warm, and dry and can significantly impact a child’s mental and emotional well-being. FAN’s mission is to offer assistance, possibility, and hope to Central Oregon families in need by connecting them with crucial resources to help children flourish in school and life. FAN is unique to Central Oregon, located in nearly all public schools across Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. Working through a dedicated FAN advocate, a child or parent is connected to essential services such as food, shelter, heating, health care, clothing, and more. FAN advocates link children and families to critical basic need services with the goal of keeping children healthy and in school. FAN provides a direct and convenient way within the school to connect children to vital resources and coordinates with over 100 partners to ensure those in need are assisted quickly. FAN advocates support our most needy families, removing barriers and paving the way for a child’s success. Every year, FAN advocates improve the lives of nearly 8,000 children and family members in our community. Libby’s Story Libby couldn’t wait to start first grade. It was all she talked about after arriving in Central Oregon to live with her aunt due to unstable circumstances with her parents. Before she could join her class, though, Libby needed a routine medical checkup. Unfortunately, her aunt couldn’t afford a doctor’s visit, and she didn’t have insurance. Libby’s aunt contacted the FAN advocate serving their school, who referred them to Mosaic Medical’s School-Based Health Center. They applied for a sliding scale program, and Libby started school while they enrolled in Oregon Health Plan. Talking further with Libby’s aunt, their FAN advocate discovered more needs. Without delay, she connected Libby to new school clothes and provided a winter coat and waterproof boots—since her aunt walks her to school—and a backpack complete with Libby’s favorite movie character so that she could start her year off right. Libby is loving first grade and comes home each afternoon brimming with excitement over everything she’s learning.

The Oregon High Desert Classics is the only event of its kind in Central Oregon. Approved by the US Hunter Jumper Association, this show attracts world-class riders from all over the US and Canada. It is one of a small handful of shows to receive Heritage Horse Show designation, and it is also the only show of its caliber that is primarily a fundraiser for a non-profit. The 2024 Classics was held from July 17th through July 21st and from July 24th through July 28th. The Oregon High Desert Classics serves as the primary annual fundraiser for J Bar J Youth Services, a non-profit organization that facilitates positive change for youth. J Bar J hosts the show on its property, housing The Boys Ranch, a residential program and school for adjudicated boys. Proceeds from these events support programs helping kids overcome hurdles and achieve self-sufficiency. The investment in “human capital” has concrete results as we see kids turn their lives around, becoming better community members, better partners, and eventua

Each summer since 2016 Subaru of Bend donates blankets to The Center at St Charles Hospital in Bend. On August 13th Matt Thomas, Owner, Brian Engle, Service Director, and Jeremy Fry, Internet Sales Director, from the dealership delivered 200 blankets to help keep cancer patients while receiving treatments. During the visit, the team from Subaru was able to meet lymphoma survivor Sierra Holmly, who was there to help receive the blankets. She shared her story with the team and asked to share it, as she wants to help bring hope to others. "At 28 years old I did not think that cancer would be in my future. In 2019, I went through chemotherapy for non-Hodgkins large B cell lymphoma for four months until I was given the all clear. I began my recovery and wasn't sure if I would be able to have children. Gratefully, 18 months after my chemotherapy, I was able to have a healthy baby girl, Eleanor Hope. When she was nine months old, I was told that my Lymphoma was back. I went through more chemotherapy to get my body to a cancer-free state. I then had an autologous stem cell transplant at OHSU in Portland, OR. I had to remain in Portland (3.5 hours from my home in Bend, OR) for many months going to daily appts at OHSU. It has been a little over two years since my transplant & I'm feeling grateful to everyone who has helped me through my journey. Family, community, and spirituality have been the foundation for my healing and support. I am so glad that I am here to be a mother to my daughter and to share my story! I hope that this brings hope to others!" Sierra Holmly-Lymphoma Survivor

Subaru of Bend, nestled in the heart of Bend, Oregon, is not just another car dealership; it's a cornerstone of community support and empowerment. Recently, this commitment to community upliftment was exemplified through their generous contribution to a local youth baseball team, enabling them to develop a rigorous tournament schedule taking the team to elite tournaments across the Pacific Northwest and to Arizona. The journey began when a determined young athlete, fueled by his passion for baseball, sought avenues to fundraise for his team's ambitious tournament schedule. With dreams of honing their skills this season, the team faced the daunting task of financing the numerous tournaments. Undeterred, the young player approached Subaru of Bend with a heartfelt plea for support. Upon entering the dealership, he was greeted by Matt Thomas, a symbol of Subaru of Bend's dedication to community engagement. Sitting across from Matt, Emmitt Mooney passionately articulated his team's aspirations and the significance of their demanding schedule as the importance of their athletic development. Matt, deeply moved by the sincerity and determination radiating from the young athlete, listened attentively, recognizing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Understanding the importance of fostering youth sports and community involvement, Matt firmly shook Emmitt's hand which resulted in Subaru of Bend swiftly took action to support the cause. Through their sponsorship, they not only provided financial assistance but also demonstrated a commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering a sense of belonging within the community. The collaboration between Subaru of Bend and the Central Oregon Crush Baseball team transcended the realm of corporate sponsorship, evolving into a partnership grounded in shared values and a vision for community betterment. Together, they embodied the spirit of teamwork and solidarity, uniting to empower young athletes and inspire future generations. With Subaru of Bend's support, the Central Oregon Crush Baseball embarked on their rigorous tournament schedule, where they immersed themselves in training, invaluable experiences, and unforgettable memories. Beyond the confines of the baseball diamond, their experiences are a testament to the transformative power of community support and the boundless potential inherent in every young athlete. As the Central Oregon Crush 10u Baseball continues through their season, their hearts brimming with gratitude and their spirits uplifted by the unwavering support of Subaru of Bend, they will carry more than just memories of a successful trip—they will carry a profound sense of belonging, empowerment, and the knowledge that, with the support of their community, anything is possible. Subaru of Bend's commitment to community empowerment extends far beyond the confines of their dealership, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of local youth and serving as a beacon of hope, inspiration, and opportunity for generations to come. In a world where corporate responsibility often takes a backseat, Subaru of Bend stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when businesses prioritize people over profit and community over convenience

In the heart of our beloved community, BrightSide Animal Center had the privilege of partnering with the local Subaru retailer, Subaru of Bend, for two unforgettable events that brought immeasurable joy to both our furry friends and their human companions. On September 23rd, BrightSide was honored to collaborate with Subaru of Bend on their Grand Opening for out "Adoption & Fill Outback/Forester" event. Dogs wore "ADOPT ME" bandanas captured the attention and hearts of attendees. The community responded with incredible generosity, helping fill the Subaru vehicle with pet food and supplies for our community pantry and shelter animals. As families met our lovable, adoptable dogs, connections formed! On October 27th, BrightSide's shelter transformed into a hub of hope during the Microchipping Event. BrightSide Staff and volunteers worked to provide free microchips to dogs and cats, offering not just identification but a promise of enhanced safety. Alongside this, we distributed information packets, underlining our shared commitment to ensuring accessible pet care for every member of our community. During the Subaru Loves Month, new families were made at BrightSide. RIP, rescued from the bustling Madras Highway, and Niko, a transfer from another shelter were welcomed into forever homes. Each furry companion gained a whole lot of love and a furry sibling. The impact of these events resonated deeply within our community — countless pets now bear the mark of safety through microchips, families expanded with newfound furry members, and our community pantry overflowed with the warmth of generosity.

4-year-old Lauren wished to go to Walt Disney World and after her trip in Mid-May, she had no clue that wasn't the end of her wish experience. Lauren has been battling leukemia but has kept her hope through it all so Subaru of Bend wanted to provide some more joy for all that she had been through. After traveling to Florida for her wish in mid-May, Subaru of Bend and Make-A-Wish Oregon came together to celebrate her trip in June. Lauren shared her favorite moments from her trip including meeting all of the princesses and Mickey Mouse! Her brother meanwhile loved the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Epcot and the parents were so thankful that for 6 days, they had the opportunity to bring some normalcy to their lives amidst all of the treatments and hospital time Lauren had dealt with recently. Chick-Fil-A Bend stepped up to be a part of the event and donated all the food to help make the experience all the more special! Matt Thomas and Leah Coryell and the Subaru of Bend team were amazing throughout the entire process, especially given they were finishing a long drawn out remodel of the showroom space that had created some challenges. Subaru of Bend has long-supported Make-A-Wish as well as numerous other charities in the area, easily one of the top corporate sponsors of the community in Central Oregon. The partnership with Make-A-Wish Oregon has been incredibly rewarding for Subaru of Bend and local Central Oregon wish kids who have had their wishes granted thanks to the generous support of Matt, Leah, and their team. Thank you to Subaru of Bend for keeping the Love Promise by pouring into their community and making it a priority to ensure local wish kids have hope and joy in the midst of difficult times.

First Story received a $45,000 check from Subaru of Bend, their largest Share the Love Event donation ever, on May 11. The check presentation will took place at Subaru of Bend. The donation will directly support the construction of a new home for a Bend family that will receive First Story’s zero-down, zero-interest, 30-year home loan. First Story, Hayden Homes and community members helped the Bend family “raise the wall” on their new home in the First Place community on May 9. The wall-raising event on May 9 is a milestone that’s celebrated in every community where a new First Story home is built. The event brings together the family that will eventually move into the home, the home builders, community members, and First Story supporters to celebrate the partnerships that make First Story’s affordable homeownership opportunities possible. During the Share the Love Event donation presentation, attendees got a sneak peek of Subaru of Bend’s new facility, which will be the largest Subaru facility in the country. The dealership is in the final stages of a two-year building process and the new facility boasts 50 service bays with four green roofs across 110,000 square feet. “We’re long-time fans and supporters of First Story and we’re really excited to present them with our largest Share the Love Event donation,” said Jake Thomas, the manager of Subaru of Bend. “To know that the donation will help a local family become homeowners is something special.” Subaru of Bend has been a Subaru partner for 51 years and has participated in the annual Share the Love Event since it began in 2008. This year’s donation to First Story is the product of $250 for every car sale that Subaru of Bend made between mid-November and Jan. 3. This is the second time that Subaru of Bend has selected First Story to be its Share the Love Event recipient. To date, Subaru of Bend has donated $423,220 to charities through the event, in addition to other charitable giving. “Subaru of Bend’s generosity and commitment to giving back to the Central Oregon community is changing lives,” said Claire Duncan, First Story’s executive director. “This donation is providing a family with a hand up to homeownership, putting them on a path toward asset-building, financial stability and economic mobility.” First Story’s affordable home loan program is supported by a partnership with its founder, Hayden Homes, plus in-kind donations of labor and building materials and the financial support of a robust network of donors. Through this innovative collaboration, eligible families receive a zero-down, zero-interest, 30-year mortgage on their very own Hayden Home. To date, First Story has helped 109 families become homeowners. Of those families,100% earn less than 80% of area median income, 100% are first-time home buyers, 80% are the first in their families ever to own a home, 30% identify as minorities, and 20% are households with children who have disabilities.

On March 10th, we got some unexpected snow. Mark Weislow was excited to get his new Crosstrek, but was not comfortable driving on the roads that day. His sales person, Kevin Accomazzo, took time out of his day to personally deliver Mark's new Crosstrek to his home. Mark was thankful for Kevin braving the snowy roads, and for him taking the time to do the delivery in his driveway.

Subaru of Bend's donation of $25,000. This gift from Suburu will provide the seed funding for a Home in Redmond which Kindred Connections will use as a Resource Center and Host Home for homeless youth in Redmond. The building, owned by J Bar J Youth Services, has been previously used as an independent living facility for human trafficking survivors served through the at: project and youth transitioning out of the Cascade Youth & Family Center (CYFC) LOFT shelter in Bend. CYFC and Kindred Connections are programs that work together to house kids and help them transition to safe, permanent housing. The programs are operated under the umbrella of J Bar J. Kindred Connections rallies around families when they face challenges. They offer the help needed for a family to find their way through a storm. When a crisis hits, parents need time to make a plan and stabilize their lives, sometimes without the additional demands of parenting. They may need recovery time after surgery, have lost their home or a job, or have suffered a relapse into addiction. These families could be a mom who lost a job, needs to move, is struggling with her mental health, and requesting respite so she could catch up on life. Or, a youth that finds themselves on their own, like Uriah, who found himself homeless when his mother told him he had to leave her home. Kindred Connections can help with a network of volunteers and host families. They have helped several youth like Uriah finish high school and navigate college admissions. During the Share the Love Event, Subaru dealers across the nation donate to local and national charities. With every new Subaru purchased or leased, Subaru donates $250 to the charity chosen by the customer, as well as $50 to the chosen non-profit in their community. Kindred Connections is happy to have been chosen for the 2021 event. Together, Subaru of Bend & Kindred Connections will change lives in Central Oregon

Thank you for the comfortable and unexpected blanket! I appreciate the community support you all offer. I like to tell my story as it can be a comfort to others with blood cancers. In 1997 I was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. After my first round of chemo at UC Davis, I relapsed. Several more hospitalizations for chemo and, finally, a stem cell transplant. The transplant cured the AML, but broke some chromosomes and left me with Myelodysplasia, another malignant blood cancer. I went to Fred Hutchinson, UCSF, and MD Anderson. All said, “No treatment now" and "come back WHEN you relapse, we might have something.” Also it has a variable course and I could be dead in 3 weeks if it decided to expand. That was 24 years ago. I did nothing special to survive and definitely did not have a positive attitude. I am not in remission and continue to live with cancer. I give thanks every day. So there is hope to beat the odds. You can tell my story, but please keep my name confidential. I did attend a Cancer Support group for 10 years. This gave me insight on the cancer journey. The support of the community is very healing so I appreciate your teaming with LLS as it has exponential impact. Sincerely, Edy Britts

Last fall, Subaru of Bend helped Central Oregon families find stability during crisis. Annually, Subaru dealers around the nation take part in their “Share the Love” event to support national and local non-profits. Kindred Connections was the local recipient, and will use the gift to walk beside families during times of struggle, and provide temporary hosting of their children, if needed. Kindred Connections rallies around families in need. When families face challenges we offer the help they need to find their way through the storm. For Misty, support allowed her to find her footing as a single mother in the middle of a divorce. Volunteers helped Misty with transportation to appointments, taking kids for activities like ice skating and ice cream and provided child care while Misty studied for tech school exams. Volunteers even brought fire wood and meals on hectic nights. This family is now stable and safe and have developed a network of support families to lean on when needed. Sometimes, when the crisis hits, parents need time to stabilize their lives without the additional demands of parenting. They may need recovery time after surgery, have lost their home, or have suffered a relapse into addiction. Parents like a teen mom who reached out to us. She was moving, struggling with her mental health, and requesting respite so she could catch up on life. Our volunteers hosted Nathan in their home for two weeks initially, and have since watched him occasionally over the past year and a half. She still faces struggles, but has the support of the Kindred Connections community. A young father who gained full custody of his children for the first time needed a little help with respite care from time to time also benefitted from mentoring. Volunteers worked with him to make a plan and develop some of the skills he needed to be a successful parent. When youth find themselves on their own, we also step up. With our network of volunteers and host families, we have helped several youth finish high school and navigate college admissions and FAFSA. Young people like Uriah, who found himself homeless when his mother told him he had to leave her home. One of our volunteer families hosted him for two years while he finished high school and prepared for college. When the time came, our staff drove him to Eugene and helped him move into his dorm. His host family tells us they will stay connected with him, perhaps for a lifetime. Because volunteers are at the center of our program, we will use the funds from Subaru’s share the love event to recruit and train more volunteers. We partner with local churches in Central Oregon communities, giving presentations to their members and working through volunteer coordinators in each congregation. We are grateful to Subaru of Bend for choosing Kindred Connections as their local non-profit choice for fall of 2021. This gift will go far to help families and children in need to find stability and create better futures. Eva Gill Marketing Creative J Bar J Youth Services

Matt Thomas, the owner of Subaru of Bend, is one of the founders of Cascades Academy back in 2003. Matt has know Julie Amberg since 2006 a few months after she started with the school. Over the years Matt, and Subaru of Bend, have partnered with Cascades Academy to be the title auction sponsor. Matt has also helped out behind the scenes to help Cascades Academy set up bank financing to purchase the original parcel of land that would later become the first campus. Subaru of Bend recently made a donation of $100,000 to Cascades Academy to help them purchase an additional 14 acres for their campus. "Your sincere commitment to giving people opportunities, especially those that may not be fortunate enough to have them. I have come to know that your generosity is not only because you have the capacity to give but also because you deeply car to help. You are also deeply committed to Central Oregon...Your recent gift to the school to help toward the purchase of land was yet another example of your generosity - giving future students life changing experiences while also continuing to invest in Central Oregon." -Julie Amberg

Labor day was less than a week away in Central Oregon. Folks in the dog-friendly town of Redmond were packing up their travel gear and fluffy-nugget companions for an extended weekend of fun and adventure. Downtown the streets were busy with SUV’s, Crossovers, 4-Wheelers and RVers. Grocery stores and mini-marts filled with outdoor enthusiasts loading up on road snacks, camp food and Smores. Summer memories were going to be made one last time before fall and winter started to freeze. A girl named Subie was wandering downtown amongst the excitement, noise and traffic. With little to no hearing and an age of 91 - in people years - she must have wondered how she ended up in such a predicament, and how her paws might navigate her wagging tail to safety. Riding in a cop car usually lacks a tail wag from any species. Underdogs like Subie though, have a different plan. Strutting her wiggle-tail and Subie-smile from the end of an officer’s leash, Subie shined when we met her at Brightside. She wore a pink metal heart on her collar that said “SUBIE” with a local phone number inscribed. Calls from the officer and from Brightside reached dead ends. Vet exams and observation showed additional signs of senior age, physical abnormalities and previous motherhood. Imagine the headline: “91 year old deaf mother wandering the streets of downtown Redmond - picked up by the police - walks into a shelter with a smile on her face because where she came from was worse.” After an extra two days on stray-hold for Subie’s family to find her, Brightside staff deemed her fully adoptable. She had a photoshoot and "resume" created for her new online profile. Her underdog determination was now thriving and Subie’s eyes told Brightside staff she was smiling every day. Brightside continued to learn about Subie and her non-hearing capabilities. They incorporated her into play groups and volunteer walks around the shelter while her smile grew daily. Exactly one month after Subie the Underdog shined a light on Brightside, a new family decided to shine light on Subie. Subie was adopted on the first day of Brightside’s partnership with Subaru of America and Subaru of Bend for their Subaru Love’s Pet’s Month. Subaru donated $100 for Subie’s adoption and will continue to donate $100 for every pet (dogs and cats) adopted nationwide during October.

Ryan B. is a Firefighter in Salem OR in the need of a new car for his wife. Ryan works long hours, and his wife didn't have a ride to Bend OR to pick up her Crosstrek when it arrived. Chris Mangan went above and beyond to help them out. Chris trailered their new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek 130 miles to them. He helped them completed the paperwork and did the delivery in their driveway.

Subaru of Bend has been the main sponsor for the City of Bend’s fireworks display for the past 3 years. This year Subaru of Bend partnered with Bend Radio Group to give listeners a chance to nominate a deserving local military family to have a chance to be a part of dinner and fireworks viewing on the “Subaroof” on the 4th of July. Each year the fireworks are set off on the top of Piolet Butte located in the center of town. With Subaru of Bend being located at the foot of Piolet Butte it gave local military families the best view in town as a thank you for their service. This year the fireworks could be steamed through the Back Yard Bend app that is powered by Bend Radio Group.

BrightSide Animal Center, a high save shelter in Redmond, Oregon wants to shout out a grand THANK YOU to Subaru of Bend for partnering with us for National Subaru's "Dog-A-Day" adoption event in October of 2020. It is as the African Proverb says, "It takes a village to raise a child," though in this case it was a dog. We gratefully count Bend Subaru as being part of BrightSide's "village." Special thanks to Matt Thomas, owner of Subaru of Bend for extending such a generous invitation. Also, special thanks to Rob Landis, Event Coordinator at Subaru of Bend for his enthusiasm, cooperative spirit and genuine interest in providing a welcoming venue for the dog handlers and their adoptable dogs. Great people, great animals, great coffee and great cookies. What a great day!

On behalf of myself and the entire Oregon Adaptive Sports family, we’d like to send out a huge thank you to the entire team at Subaru of Bend for selecting OAS as one of the two local charities for this year’s 2019 Share the Love Program. We have so much gratitude for the entire team at Subaru, including Matt Thomas, Andrea Levesque and Cheryl Doyal, and the incredible management and sales staff and also to all the loyal and valued customers who purchased a new Subaru during the Annual Share the Love Program. Together they raised $22,200 in support of our mission of providing life-changing outdoor recreation experiences to individuals with disabilities where participants gain confidence, build self-esteem and strive for independence leading to an enhanced quality of life. This amazing gift could not have come at a better time, when many non-profits are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a founder and 20 year board member, as well as a participant of our programs, I can attest to the real, life-changing benefits our programs provide for individuals and families who desperately need to connect with our community, feel valued, whole and independent, and be able to experience the amazing Central Oregon outdoors while benefiting from the many positive effects of physical activity and recreation. Oregon Adaptive Sports envisions a day when everyone has the opportunity to experience the benefits of outdoor recreation, regardless of ability or cost. We are so grateful to Subaru and its wonderful customers for “Sharing the Love” with us this year and all they do for the entire Central Oregon community.

From the generous support of owners, management, service and sales teams, and loyal customers, Subaru of Bend raised $37,000 in support of Every Child Central Oregon. Last year, about 494 kids in Central Oregon experienced at least one night in foster care; currently, we have approximately 273 youth experiencing foster care in the tri-county area. Every Child Central Oregon believes in a hopeful future for children and families by helping connect individuals, businesses, families, and faith communities to meet the acute needs of youth experiencing foster care and foster families. We relentlessly fight for children in crisis and commit to finding safe, nurturing foster families where they can flourish during their time in care. Every Child believes in providing radical hospitality, and in doing so we are able to create, and nurture, momentum that incites recovery and resiliency in the communities we serve. When we provide just one tangible need for a youth in care it not only affects that child, but also provides encouragement to their foster family; reminding them of the support they can find in their community. When Subaru stepped forward and said “Yes!” to partnering with Every Child, they provided not just the monetary support it takes to purchase needed items. More importantly, they wrapped their arms around the foster community of Central Oregon and helped spread the message that they are important, they are seen, and we believe they have a bright future ahead of them! We are humbled by the support and give a big “THANK YOU!” to Subaru of Bend!

With the support of the owners, management, sales, service and loyal customers, Subaru of Bend raised $37,334 to support Bend Area Habitat for Humanity. Bend Habitat is celebrating 30 years of service to the Bend community through affordable homeownership for families and individuals needing an opportunity for a hand up not a hand out. Affordable housing is a huge need in Central Oregon for people making 40%-80% of the area median income. These are folks working at the local hospitals, school districts, restaurants, grocery stores, breweries, car dealerships, hair and nail salons and more. These are folks who we couldn't do without in our every day lives. They should get to continue to live, work and play here like so many of us do. With the support of our local community and businesses like Subaru of Bend and Subaru of America, we can transform lives at a very tangible level for generations to come. This transformation translates to a healthier, stronger and more vibrant community. We all benefit when housing is not a dire need and people can make it to work every day, are stable, healthier and more productive for their employers. Because of the success of our ReStore, a home improvement resale center, 100% of every dollar donated builds homes for families in need of stability, self-reliance and transformation. With this donation and the support of the local community, we will double the numbers of families served this year with housing! We are on track to serve 20 families! This milestone would not be possible without Subaru of Bend & Subaru of America. Thank you for partnering and rocking our world! Join us some time with a hard hat and a hammer!

Huge thanks to Subaru of Bend for partnering with Pine Mountain Sports as the title sponsor of our annual Powderhound Preview & Fundraiser. This locally produced winter film festival raises money for Central Oregon Trail Alliance, Deschutes County Search & Rescue, and the Pine Mountain Sports Community Ambassador Program (which has supported non-profits including CASA of Central Oregon, Volunteers in Medicine, and Family Access Network). We're proud to work alongside the wonderful staff at Subaru of Bend who supports these, and many other Central Oregon non-profits that are making Bend a better place. Herd U Needed a Home (HUNAH) Rescue specializes in rescuing herding breed dogs who are at risk of suffering or euthanasia in overcrowded shelters and finds them loving, activity appropriate homes. Subaru of Bend partnered with HUNAH to host an adoption event in November to celebrate their commitment to pets in Central Oregon. Everyone had a blast with the Subaru team and all of the people who came to meet the dogs. Two puppies even found their forever homes through this event! We can't thank Cheryl and the Subaru of Bend team enough for their support of our rescue!

With the support of ownership, management, sales staff and loyal customers, Subaru of Bend raised $41,986.62 to support Grandma's House of Central Oregon, a homeless and transitional shelter for pregnant or parenting young mothers and their little ones. Not only was this incredible donation made possible by this amazing team, our moms and babies also received many beautiful baby items during the campaign with the showroom baby cradle; this wonderful team also shared Christmas gifts making our moms and babies feel so special. Their gift of time, talent and support means the world to the girls and little ones and helps the life-skills, support and services our moms need to have healthy, happy babies & positive, full and productive lives a reality. You are a part of Grandma's House heart forever! We will never forget your hard work, generosity and beautiful spirits - we will treasure our friendship always!!! For all of you, the teapot is always on! With our deepest love and gratitude! The young mothers, babies, staff and all of us at Grandma's House

Subaru of Bend has been a faithful supporter of the Human Dignity Coalition, our goals and our commitment to the LGBTQ community in Central Oregon. For the past several years, Subaru Bend has not only been a title sponsor for our Central Oregon Pride celebration but also a sponsor of Human Dignity Coalition's Fall Fundraiser. Subaru's commitment to the community isn't just talk - they are present at our events, greeting people and making friends. Subaru has a rich history of reaching out to and supporting vastly changing landscape of people and their dedication to diversity and inclusion has seen them partner with organizations such as the Human Rights Coalition, Rainbow PUSH, LOGO TV Network, and PFLAG. Thank you Subaru of Bend for understanding that life can be a rainbow!

Deschutes Children’s Foundation was honored to be the hometown charity for Subaru of Bend’s annual Share the Love event this past winter. Thanks to a record number of community members who chose to shop local and give locally, Subaru of Bend donated a transformative gift of $50,000 to support Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s mission to provide the space and support where nonprofits succeed at helping children and families. We envision a community where all children and all families have the resources they need to thrive – thanks to Subaru of Bend and Bill and Matt Thomas, we are even closer to achieving our vision.

I am the Director of a local non-profit animal welfare organization whose mission is to keep pets and people together by providing affordable veterinary care. Recently, we were given the opportunity to provide 100 free microchips to cats and dogs in our community. Subaru of Bend was more than willing to host the event at their dealership. Not only did they offer space for the event, they provided all of the chairs, tables and tents for us! They even cooked hot dogs and provided sodas and Subaru pet gear all at no charge to our clients! All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. It meant the world that they treated our clients just like anyone else shopping at the dealership. They made a point to go through the line and say hello to many of the people and their cats and dogs. Many of our clients struggle to provide care for their pets because of financial constraints, so for Subaru of Bend to be so incredibly generous meant a lot not only to our organization but to our clients and their pets. We were able to provide 64 microchips that day, and help to make sure that if those 64 pets ever go missing, they will have a good shot at being reunited with their owners. Big thanks to a local business helping our community! Thank you Subaru of Bend, you guys rock!

Cascades Academy would like to extend its deepest thanks to Subaru of Bend for coming out as the title sponsor of our annual auction this year. This event raises critical dollars for our students and teachers, and provides targeted support to a large percentage of families at our school who receive financial aid. Thank you, Subaru of Bend, for being a leader in our community and for supporting independent education in Central Oregon!

Subaru of Bend chose to take part in the Butterfly Heroes program with the National Wildlife federation in an effort to learn not only about the population drop for the monarch, but also what we could do to help!! We invite you stop by and check out our butterfly garden and pick up milkweed seeds so that you can plant your own Monarch habitat.

We want to thank Subaru of America for helping support Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS), a Central Oregon Nonprofit organization with the aim to provide life-changing outdoor recreation experiences for people with disabilities. During the winter of 2015-16 we were able to provide 225 individuals the experience of skiing, snowboarding, nordic skiing or snowshoeing concluding the season with an estimated 810 adaptive experiences. That is an IMPACT, one that could not be achieved without the support and empowerment from such organizations like Subaru of America. Thank you for helping us reinforce our mission.

Bend Spay and Neuter Project provides affordable preventative care to cats and dogs at risk of suffering and works to keep pets and people together through a variety of programs. Molly is a cute Pit Bull whose owners move around a lot. Molly was spayed for free through Bend Spay and Neuter Project's Pit Bull program and she receives free food once a month at the HOPE Pet Food Bank sponsored by Bend Pet Express and Bend Spay and Neuter. She doesn't get a chance to have many toys, so receiving one at the Subaru 100 Microchips event was a real treat for her! Her owners were so thankful that they were able to receive a microchip for free so that they could be reunited with Molly if they were ever separated! Thank you Subaru for helping Bend Spay and Neuter Project keep people and pets together for life!

There are many things that we can do on a daily basis to limit our impact on the environment, so everyone at Subaru of Bend and many in the community took advantage of the E-waste event during the month of April. Computers, monitors, cords, vhs players, and much more were collected and sent to a recycling facility for processing and separating. Subaru of Bend thanks everyone for helping us to actively preserve the environment!!

Formed in the early 1970s, the Central Oregon Nordic Club continues to flourish today, with over 200 members. The Club's mission is to provide a means whereby its members and others may cooperate in the enjoyment of outdoor recreation while promoting greater participation in and understanding of the values of outdoor recreation, with emphasis on ski touring and other winter snow sports and hiking. In alignment with that mission, the Club is working with the United States Forest Service to rebuild and possibly relocate the Swampy Snow Shelter in the Deschutes National Forest. Literally thousands of cross-country skiers and "snowshoers" have used the shelter for warmth and protection from the elements while enjoying Central Oregon's outdoors. In the summer months the shelter is a meeting place for mountain bikers. Alas, the Swampy Shelter is rapidly aging and in danger of imminent collapse. The generosity of Subaru of Bend is making it possible for the Club to see this project through to completion. The project enjoys widespread community support and in a few years a new shelter (similar to the rebuilt Nordeen Shelter) will be available. Thank you Subaru for helping to make this project a reality.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon and the Bend Ronald McDonald House were so honored to be selected as recipient of the 2014 Share the Love Event. With support from Subaru of Bend ownership, management, and sales staff, customers purchasing a new Subaru in November or December, were encouraged to direct their $250 Subaru donation to us, to serve children and families from across our region. After 79 customers selected our charity, we were awarded $19,898--which could provide lodging for 25 families for a week at our facility. The Bend Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for families who must travel to Bend seeking medical care for their seriously ill or injured child, age 21 and under, as well as bed-resting, high-risk pregnant mothers. We are so grateful to Subaru and its wonderful customers for "Sharing the Love" with families from across our region, just when they need it most!

Subaru of Bend has been a valued partner for the Special Olympics Oregon Winter State Games at Mt. Bachelor for several years. They not only support Special Olympics financially but provide much needed volunteers as well for this fun event. In addition, they bring a beautiful new Subaru up to the mountain and proudly display it at the ski resort. We very much appreciate the continued support from Subaru of Bend.

Chimps Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(C)3 wildlife sanctuary designed to provide lifetime care to captive chimpanzees rescued or retired from the pet and entertainment industries. We are dedicated to overcoming the exploitation and cruelty that they face through advocacy, conservation, education and outreach. Founded in 1995 in response to the multitude of captive chimpanzees desperately in need of homes, our sanctuary is located in rural Bend, Oregon. Love for the chimps and lynx is never in short supply here at Chimps Inc., but ensuring these precious animals have resources for other necessities - food, medical attention, plus a safe, clean and stimulating habitat - has become more challenging than ever. It costs a staggering $1,200.00 each month to care for, and house, just one chimpanzee. Because we are a non-profit organization and do not receive any federal funding, we rely solely on the generosity of our supporters and fundraising dollars to survive. Matt and Bill at Subaru of Bend have stepped up year after year and supported our sanctuary and the animals that call Chimps Inc. home! Thanks to their generosity we are able to provide the chimps and big cats days that are filled with choices, peace, dignity, companionship and care - worlds apart from the lonely, neglected lives many of them once knew. Thank you Subaru of Bend! Pant Hoots to you and all that you do in our community! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFgMh1PkyYs

We were looking for a major increase in the number of sponsor for Central Oregon Pride 2014 because it was our 10th annual pride festival and we wanted to make it bigger and better than ever! Knowing of the national support of Subaru for LGBT organizations we contacted our local retailer and much to our delight they said - we'd love to partner with HDC to help support pride. We then need to find a "limo" to get our drag queens from a hotel to the festival location and so we approached Subaru and suggested it they provided two vehicles they could do it. Subaru said of course and it will be a hoot and it was over the top. Just way way fun and all eyes were on those Subaru's vehicles as they brought 5 well know Oregon drag queens to the festival and stage! We are so thankful for Subaru of Bend.
Did Subaru of Bend go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
