Buyers tend to be stressed when they start their journey to find a new car. We understand how hard it can be to find the best SUV to fit your needs.  Maybe you want something that will make it easier for you to travel and is very spacious or maybe you are looking for something that can fit your colleagues in the carpool lane. The 2020 Subaru Outback and the 2020 Toyota Highlander in Bend OR are two of the newest SUVs that fit this bill.

The goal of Subaru of Bend is to find the best SUV for our buyers - one that fits into your budget and your needs. The 2020 Subaru Outback is a much cheaper alternative than the 2020 Toyota Highlander. To see more of its comparison, check out the specs below:

Resting atop the new Subaru Global Platform, the 2020 Subaru Outback in Bend OR will be 70% stiffer in torsional and front-suspension rigidity, and 100% stiffer in lateral flexural and rear subframe rigidity, which will make it quieter, safer, and nimbler. Sitting on this new underpinning is a brand-new body that boasts more of an evolutionary redesign that a revolutionary one, which is typical of Subaru. The 2020 Outback's new looks will include an updated grille, widened fenders, smoother side panels, new body cladding, LED fog lights, all-new taillights, and a more upright rear liftgate.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander in Bend OR will rip a page from the new-generation RAV4's book with a more upright and rugged look than before. The 2020 Highlander will also be 2.3 inches longer than the 2019 model, and all that growth will be in the cargo area. The 2020 Highlander's construction will change too, as it will shift to a new platform with more high-strength steel that makes it stronger and quieter than before.

Between these two models, the Subaru represents a more comforting vehicle that will protect you and your family over any dangers on the road.

Interior Features

Inside, outward visibility in the 2020 Outback will be increased with a wider windshield. The cabin will also get a redesigned dash that will feature a more upscale appearance with its contrasting colors and available 11.6-inch touchscreen. Subaru will update all STARLINK infotainment systems in the 2020 Subaru Outback to include high-definition touchscreens, climate and X-MODE controls, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, and more. Available options will include in-car Wi-Fi, a 12-speakers Harman Kardon audio system, and more.

The all-new Highlander will gain a more horizontally oriented dash that will visually widen the cabin. There will be seating for eight with its standard second-row bench, but buyers can upgrade to second-row captains chairs that increase comfort but cut the capacity to seven people. The 2020 Toyota Highlander in Bend OR will do more than haul people - it will tote up to 16.1 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats upright and 40.6 cubes with the third row folded. Drop both rear rows to expand it to 73.3 cubic feet of cargo space.  As standard, the new Highlander will come with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Alexa, Waze navigation, SiriusXM, in-car Wi-Fi, three-zone climate control, an eight-way power driver's seat, and more. The options list will include a class-leading 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 1,200-watt JBL audio system, a power liftgate, a 120-volt outlet, a head-up display, and more.

Both cars have very similar technological advances with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It almost seems as if the models are tied in this category. However, the Subaru wins if you prefer a wider windshield and larger touchscreen.

Pricing and Release Date

There is no official on-sale date for the 2020 Subaru Outback, but we expect to see it in the fall of 2019. Pricing remains unclear, but we expect at least a small price increase relative to the current Outback, which ranges from $27,320 to $39,970 (destination fees included).

The 2020 Toyota Highlander will hit showrooms in December 2019. Its official pricing is not available yet, but we expect a mild price increase over the current Highlander's MSRP range of $32,625 to $48,305 (destination fees included).

Unlike the 2020 Toyota Highlander, the 2020 Subaru Outback is a cheaper alternative that will fit just right into your budget while still offering an upscale feel and incredible safety features.
