Honda looks to improve on its third best-selling model in its segment with the 2020 Honda HR-V in Bend Oregon. This new model will be merely a facelift of the previous, but at this stage of its life cycle, this is not a bad move for Honda. Subaru recently gave the Crosstrek a complete redesign, making it the first Subaru on the new Global Platform. Since the introduction of the Global Platform, Subaru has made other minor changes to the Crosstrek, making it even more difficult for the HR-V to catch up.

The 2020 Subaru Crosstrek

Reasons to consider the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek in Bend Oregon include its spacious interior and off road capable, on road comfortable, “plucky” feel. The crossover has a quiet, refined demeanor, yet it is loaded with safety and techie features such as Subaru Eyesight and Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto.

The class-leading 8.7-inch ground clearance allows for fun off road, as its drivers experience all that nature has to offer. The 2.0-liter Boxer engine with Direct Injection pumps out 152 horsepower and 145 pounds-feet of torque and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission. All 2020 Crosstrek models include standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which instantly transfers power away from wheels that lose traction and onto the wheels with a firm grip on the road. All-wheel-drive allows outdoor enthusiasts to take their Crosstrek to locations that even 4-wheel-drive vehicles do not dare to tread. Consumer Reports awarded the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek an “Overall Rating” of 87, which far outdistanced its nearest segment contender at 73, and we expect its 2020 rating to be even better.

The 2020 Honda HR-V: What’s New?

The 2020 Honda HR-V in Bend Oregon will retain its 1.8-liter engine which puts out 141 horsepower, and 127 pounds-feet of torque. This crossover is offered in a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional CVT for its front-wheel and optional all-wheel set ups.

Exterior features include a black grille that should make the vehicle look stronger and more confident than its predecessor. Every line of the HR-V is symmetric and made for the driver’s satisfaction. The ride height of the HR-V has been raised for this model year; however, it still falls short of the Subaru Crosstrek’s 8.7 inches. Interior features include LED lighting, USB ports, and a multimedia entertainment system. Expect an increase in price from 2019 to 2020 model years for base models, as well as elevated trim levels.

The Verdict

Both the 2020 Toyota HR-V in Bend Oregon and the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek are good crossover SUV choices, however, only one can meet your needs best. Because of its safety record, dependability, and go-anywhere capability, we think that vehicle is the Subaru Crosstrek.
